چکیده

Background Cartilage-hair hypoplasia (CHH) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by short-limbed skeletal dysplasia. Some patients also develop defects in cellmediated immunity and antibody production. Granulomatous inflammation has been described in patients with various forms of primary immunodeficiencies but, to date, has not been reported in patients with Cartilage-hair hypoplasia.

Cartilage Hair Hypoplasia: First report from Iran

Cartilage hair hypoplasia (CHH), is a rare cause of metaphyseal chondrodysplasia and short stature. Other features included hair abnormality, immunodeficiency, anemia, gastrointestinal disorders (Hirschsprung disease, celiac, …) and increased risk of cancer. The disease is an autosomal recessive disorder and previously has not been reported in Iran. We report a 9-year-old boy diagnosed as car...

Perspectives for TNF-α-targeting therapies

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most common chronic autoimmunopathy, clinically leading to joint destruction as a consequence of the chronic inflammatory processes. The pathogenesis of this disabling disease is not well understood, but molecular events leading to tissue inflammation with cartilage and bone destruction are now better defined. Therapy with slow-acting, disease-modifying antirheu...

Influence of antiTNF-alpha antibody treatment on fracture healing under chronic inflammation

BACKGROUND The overexpression of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α leads to systemic as well as local loss of bone and cartilage and is also an important regulator during fracture healing. In this study, we investigate how TNF-α inhibition using a targeted monoclonal antibody affects fracture healing in a TNF-α driven animal model of human rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and elucidate the question whethe...

Anti-TNF-α antibody allows healing of joint damage in polyarthritic transgenic mice

Anti-tumor-necrosis-factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) monoclonal antibody was used to treat Tg197 transgenic mice, which constitutively produce human TNF-alpha (hTNF-alpha) and develop a progressive polyarthritic disease. Treatment of both young (7- or 8-week-old) and aged (27- or 28-week-old) mice commenced when at least two limbs showed signs of moderate to severe arthritis. The therapeutic efficacy o...

Tumour necrosis factor in synovial exudates

The actions of tumour necrosis factor (TNF) include resorption of bone and cartilage, suggesting a potential role in the pathogenesis of arthritis. TNF activity was looked for in synovial fluids from 137 patients with different rheumatic diseases. Unfractionated samples were tested in the L929 bioassay. Significant TNF activity that was neutralised by monoclonal antibody to TNF alpha occurred i...
